Greeting

Message from Principal Shimono

I wanted to design a school that was a reflection of what I had personally gained in my life. Most importantly, there was a gratitude to my parents. I had been learning the piano since I was little because my mother was a pianist. In addition, the elementary school I was attending had a branch overseas, so I was learning English conversation in order to keep up with classes at that school. It was an environment where I could learn piano and English from an early age.

At this time, my feelings were that I didn’t want to go to lessons. It wasn’t always fun, and I couldn’t see how it would be useful in the future. However, I realized later that my parents were able to accurately predict how useful these lessons would become. When I decided to become a professional musician and study abroad, my experience with piano and English conversation were a big advantage. My piano and English conversation skills were very useful in my becoming a professional in music.

Even for those who do not get a job to utilize them, studying piano and English is very useful for brain development. It is especially useful for children to study these lessons from a young age. I am convinced that starting from a young age will be a great advantage for those who are keeping an eye on their future. It is undeniably thanks to my parents that I am able to work as a musician now.

Now, I want to train excellent students who will lead the next generation of Japan through English conversation and piano. I opened ACE English Conversation / Piano School with that goal in mind. Please come to the trial lesson and experience English conversation and piano, and enhance your brain education.

Things only at ACE

You can learn piano and English conversation at the same time. What does it really mean? Imagine taking classes at an international school while in Japan; learning English grammar while separately learning the piano is not efficient. It is important to come into contact with English while learning the piano directly.

In other words, studying at ACE is like studying at an international school and taking piano lessons at the same time. In this way, you will come into contact with English, become familiar with it, and hone your piano skills. Only we can do this at ACE because the school is run by Hitoshi Shimono, who hires instructors from the top musicians. Since we have high quality musicians selected by Hitoshi Shimono, the recruitment criteria are much higher for our instructors than ones adopted by other music schools.

Regarding the piano

Regarding the piano, I want to make people happy by playing the piano. As a result, it leads to my own happiness. Therefore, at ACE’s piano lessons, it is important to play in public. We provide opportunities to perform in public as much as possible, such as in front of the teacher, in front of other students, and at recitals. It may be embarrassing at first, but as a result of trying hard to overcome it, everyone says that we have done our best. We will gain the facilities to receive applause and experience making people happy.

Regarding English

Since Hitoshi Shimono can speak English himself, he is able to hire the appropriate instructors and staff through an interview process. Also, the café at ACE is a great environment to learn English.

After returning to Japan, Shimono-san himself once attended an English conversation class in order to not lose his English conversation ability, but it didn’t make much sense. After speaking English in the classroom for one or two hours, students return to the original world of Japanese. Then, even if English enters their minds, it will fall out in an instant. In other words, it can be a waste of time.

It is very important to get in touch with English before taking a lesson, and to immediately use what you learning in that lesson after taking it. For that purpose, we have a café.
